EDITORIAL – Investments in EV battery recycling set to increase

Corporate developments

With increasing demand for battery-powered vehicles the need to recycle materials in used lithium-ion batteries will become critical

Demand for electric vehicles (EV) is expected to become stronger in the coming years with the advancement in battery technology and reduction in price of such vehicles. According to the International Energy Agency, the number of EVs on roads globally could touch 125 million by 2030. The increasing number of EVs on road would mean an equally high number of EV batteries entering and exiting the system. This has raised concerns regarding the fate of these batteries once they reach their end of life.
