Valeo, Mobileye enter partnership for autonomous vehicle safety standard

Corporate developments

The partners will collaborate on policies and technologies needed to bolster the adoption of RSS-based standard in China, Europe and the United States

Valeo has signed a partnership agreement with Mobileye to jointly develop and promote a new autonomous vehicle safety standard, using Mobileye’s Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS) model, the French supplier said in a press release. Mobileye’s RSS is a formal mathematical model to ensure that autonomous vehicles operate in a responsible manner. The open model provides specific and measurable parameters for human concepts of responsibility and caution and defines a “safe state” where self-driving vehicles cannot cause an accident, irrespective of actions taken by other vehicles.
