After being in development phase for several years, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications technology, which allows a vehicle to share information with other vehicles, roadside infrastructure, pedestrians and others, is set to be equipped in vehicles produced by certain automakers as early as next year. And, earlier this month, Toyota announced plans to equip its Toyota and Lexus brand vehicles in the United States with V2X communications, starting in 2021. The Japanese automaker set the goal to equip most of its vehicles with V2X systems by middle of the next decade.
