However, the company is now looking at developing products for the plug-in vehicle segment that require high capacity battery. This strategy, A123 Systems thinks, will help the company have world-class manufacturing scale and drive growth in future. Jeff Kessen, vice president of corporate strategy at A123 Systems, spoke to Srikant Jayanthan of IHS Markit’s Supplier Insight about what the company is doing in the solid-state battery segment, its recent investments in start-ups such as Solid Power and Ionic Materials, and how A123 Systems sees the growth of electric vehicle market in the next few years.
