Ethical Jeep hacking prompts US government to introduce security legislation


The hacking action prompted Fiat Chrysler to immediately issue a software patch to fix the vulnerability involved. Members of Congress have also expressed concern, and Senators Ed Markey and Richard Blumenthal, both Democrats, introduced a bill - Security and Privacy in Your Car (SPY) - which would direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to develop standards for isolating critical software and detect hacking as it occurs.
