In this interview, which took place at the 2015 IAA Frankfurt motor show, Julian Buckley speaks with the chief of Mercedes purchasing about supplier strategy, management and how recent growth has affected supply across the carmaker

Customers buy a Mercedes-Benz because of the superior innovation and quality experience. This is why our first priorities are to deliver those innovations together with our colleagues from Research & Development, and to ensure top quality across our supplier network. We are also looking at efficiency in the value chain and this comes together with a partnership approach with our suppliers. We routinely ask suppliers for suggestions on how to improve the cost positions of our parts through intelligent technical optimizations.
