BMW, Toyota, Hyundai, Daimler, Nissan and Honda have all announced plans recently to commercialise the fuel cell drivetrain. We take a look at the the key drivers of hydrogen fuel cell powertrains

EU and G8 leaders declared in 2009 that CO2 emissions must be cut by at least 80% (from 1990 levels) by 2050 in order for atmospheric CO2 to stabilise at 450 parts per million (ppm) and keep global warming below 2°C. This level of decarbonisation could require up to 95% decarbonisation of the road transport sector, a daunting target.
