Following Chapter 11 and management changes, GM looks to a closer alignment of purchasing and engineering, while trying to protect a vulnerable supply base

General Motors purchasing chief Bob Socia is in a difficult position. The 35-year GM veteran, who replaced Bo Andersson last summer, must manage a vast and still unstable supply chain at the post-Chapter 11 GM with a smaller staff.
