CES 2025: Mapbox and Hyundai AutoEver unveil advanced in-car technologies

13-Jan-2025

Mapbox, a company specializing in location technology, and Hyundai AutoEver, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, have introduced advanced in-car technologies at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. The collaboration has led to the development of Mapbox 3D Live Navigation, which offers immersive, 3D lane-level guidance, augmented reality (AR) overlays and real-time driver assistance. This technology integrates Mapbox's navigation technology with Hyundai AutoEver's software-defined vehicle platform and Hyundai Mobis' AR-enabled cockpit domain controller, providing drivers with enhanced turn-by-turn navigation and advanced driver assistance system features such as collision warnings and lane-departure notifications.

In addition to the navigation system, the partnership has also introduced MapGPT, an AI-powered location assistant developed by Mapbox. MapGPT facilitates natural, voice-driven interactions for dynamic routing, real-time traffic updates and hyper-local search, alongside voice-activated controls for various in-car systems. It also offers specialized features for electric vehicles, including real-time range monitoring and intelligent charging station recommendations.

"Our partnership with Mapbox brings our vision for a smarter, safer, and more engaging in-car experience to life," said Dongkwon Suh, head of Navigation Business Division at Hyundai AutoEver. "With 3D Live Navigation and MapGPT, we're redefining what's possible in driving, enhancing safety and convenience through AI-powered technology."
