CES 2025: Continental to showcase window projection technology

07-Jan-2025

Continental will unveil its innovative window projection technology at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) taking place this week in Las Vegas. This advanced solution enables the projection of content onto a vehicle's rear side windows, making it visible from the outside while the vehicle is parked. The displayed content, which can range from the electric vehicle's charge level to a favorite sports club logo, is customizable through an advanced system comprising a mini projector, a side window that darkens electrically and intelligent software.

“With our Window Projection solution, we can project content in impressive quality onto the vehicle’s side windows. This can be personalized to the driver’s lifestyle, strengthening their bond with the brand,” said Pavel Prouza, head of User Experience at Continental. The technology employs a smart projection screen and a space-efficient projection unit installed in the vehicle's roof lining to ensure high-resolution images are displayed on the darkened window.

Moreover, the Window Projection solution incorporates the eTravel.companion, an AI-based travel companion software developed in collaboration with platform provider Banbutsu. This software utilizes driving habits, geographical and weather data, and information from the vehicle's sensors to generate personalized suggestions. These suggestions, which could include displaying a sports team's logo or route information, are generated in real time and can be shown on the rear windows.
