Lyft and Mobileye partner to commercialize autonomous vehicle services

08-Nov-2024

As reported in a press release on Nov. 6, Lyft, a North American transportation network, and Mobileye have declared their intention to form an alliance aimed at the broad commercialization of autonomous vehicle services through leading fleet operators. The partnership plans to integrate Mobileye's AI-driven autonomous vehicle technology with Lyft's vast network, which annually caters to 40 million riders, to establish a robust demand platform for autonomous vehicle fleets equipped with Mobileye Drive. The collaboration aspires for future autonomous vehicle operators to acquire "Lyft-ready" vehicles that are equipped with Mobileye Drive, enabling them to access Lyft's substantial rider demand and enhance the efficiency and profitability of their fleets across metropolitan areas in North America.

Further, the alliance intends to employ Mobileye's innovative cloud-based autonomous vehicle demand technology to seamlessly connect Mobileye Drive-equipped vehicles with autonomous vehicle fleet operators. This integration, supported by Mobileye's comprehensive autonomous vehicle ecosystem and Lyft's suite of autonomous vehicle Partner APIs, aims to monetize fleets of autonomous vehicles, thereby offering Lyft users more rapid and extensive access to autonomous vehicle services.

The venture is a continuation of Mobileye's global efforts to deploy autonomous mobility services. The company has already initiated several mobility-as-a-service projects in Europe and North America, working closely with transportation network providers, vehicle operators and manufacturers. Mobileye Drive-equipped vehicles are presently under pilot testing with various mobility operators in countries including Germany, Norway, Croatia and the US, marking significant progress toward the widespread implementation of autonomous transportation services.
