As reported in a press release on Sept. 13, Keysight Technologies, through its device security research lab, Riscure Security Solutions, has collaborated with Autotalks to successfully test the security of a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication solution, leading to the first-ever Common Criteria certification for a V2X chipset with an embedded hardware security module (HSM).
The certification is a significant advancement in securing the emerging V2X technology, which is becoming increasingly important among vehicle and road equipment manufacturers, as well as government bodies. The V2X protection profile is expected to be one of the initial standards included in the EU Cybersecurity Certification framework under the EU Cyber Resilience Act. This act emphasizes the necessity for security throughout a product's life cycle and applies to various software and connected devices sold within the EU.
Keysight's testing of Autotalks' SECTON CRATON2 V2X HSM under the Common Criteria standard addresses the requirement for secure communication within a V2X ecosystem. The certification of this solution demonstrates that it meets the stringent security mechanisms necessary to prevent tampering.
